LandWise Inc. will be offering a separate training workshop entitled "Soil Variability Analysis to Enhance Crop Production (SVAECP)" on Tuesday, December 11 (10:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon) in a pre-conference session or Wednesday, December 12 (7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.) in a post-conference session at the Mayfield Inn.
The two hour SVAECP training session will focus on how producers and agri-retailers can use the SVAECP website (http://www.infoharvest.ca/svaecp) to their advantage. It will include real examples with specific findings and interpretations of the data. Cost of the two hour workshop is $30.00.
The SVAECP project involves the development of an extensive database involving detailed land mapping and soil analysis, and adds information about climate and production history related to 100 sites throughout Alberta. Project partners who provided major funding include: Norwest Labs, Agrium Inc., Westco Ltd., and the Canadian Adaptation Rural Development (CARD) fund. Individual producers and agri-business will be able to access the information from a web site for use in making site-specific decisions about such factors as fertilizer application and soil sampling strategies.
SVAECP specifically will assist producers in the more effective and efficient use of such inputs as fertilizer and herbicides because they can vary the use of these products based on the variety of landscapes within a particular field.
